Description:

The ‘Spiritual and Emotional Health Activations’ are a magical series of techniques that oriental medicine practitioners have been using for well over a thousand years. These techniques are not exclusive to acupuncturists, herbalists, or oriental massage therapists, and have shown to be very effective when using tuning forks, and sound healing methods.

In this workshop I am excited to present the ‘Spiritual and Emotional Health Activations’, which look to transform/regulate/balance the body organs that are most closely linked to mental health conditions. Of particular importance are the Heart Shén (Spirit/Soul/Mind) and the Xīn Bāo (Heart’s Embrace/Heart Shield/Heart’s Bodyguard/Pericardium). From these, harmony can be achieved but disharmony can also be generated across the entire body and mind. Therefore, all activations will, at least in part, harmonise the Heart Shén and Xīn Bāo.

So, what are the Spiritual and Emotional Health Activations that you will learn in this workshop?

1)     Crown and Third Eye

This activation targets the crown and third eye chakras and uses only two acupuncture points on the body. They are located, logically, over both chakras, with the acupuncture points being named GV 20/DU 20 (Bǎi Huì) and M-HN-3 (Yìn Táng).

This incredibly potent activation also aids the Heart Shén and Xīn Bāo, thereby assisting with spiritual and emotional health.

Small activations such as this one have proven to be very effective for mental health for thousands of years. Having said that, what if we were to combine it with activations targeting other chakras and acupuncture points? This would be patient dependent; therefore, we will spend some time discussing the pros and cons of such an endeavour.

2)     The Eight Immortal Caves (Bā Liáo)

Acupuncture points are sometimes referred to as ‘Holes’, ‘Caves’, ‘Divots’, ‘Drains’, ‘Ditches’ or ‘Valleys’ when they are in/on parts of the body that are shaped as such. The eight immortal caves activation uses tuning forks over the eight holes in the sacrum, typically referred to as the sacral foramen.

This is a powerful activation that targets the root and sacral chakras, but it does so much more. The sacrum is near the bottom of the vertebra; therefore, it has the potential to activate the entire spine. In Chinese medicine and philosophy, the spine is sometimes referred to as the ‘Stairway to Heaven’ (Tiān Tī). As such, it can be treated to regulate every single emotion as well as the Five Spirits (discussed below).

3)     Urinary Bladder Channel Wǔ Shén (Five Spirits)

This fascinating activation is as controversial as it is transformational and is one of the most argued about techniques in Chinese medicine. One camp suggests it is ‘tree-hugging hippie crap’, whereas the other camp have seen too many clinical examples of the healing power this activation offers.

I am in the second camp and am so excited to be offering you an activation that is mind and body altering. Located on the back of the trunk, this activation targets our ‘Five Spirits’, which are five different aspects of our soul that define who we are as a person. Even though we are all unique, we all still have the same Five Spirits, they are just operating at different strengths and weaknesses.

This activation looks to balance out the Five Spirits, to invigorate emotional and mental health. Interestingly, there is another Five Spirits activation on the chest wall, called the ‘Kidney Spirit Gate/Doors (Shèn Guān)’. This activation is taught in the ‘Celestial Gateway Activations’ workshop.

4)     The Three Powers/Heaven Earth Human (Tiān Dì Rén)

The Three Powers was first mentioned in the Chinese medicine Classic, the Líng Shū (Spiritual Pivot) roughly 2000 years ago: “Man [Human] is a triad with heaven and earth” (Wu 1993, p.244). This triad, or triumvirate, are the three inherent aspects of ourselves that make up our microcosm. Coincidentally, this is mirrored in the macrocosm.

This activation works on regulating Heaven, Earth and Human. Our own personal Heaven is where we come up with new ideas. Our Human is where we filter these ideas with intellect, thought, willpower, courage and determination to decide if an idea should become reality. Our Earth is where we make the idea our reality; where we action that initial thought.

Balancing this triumvirate can aid in overall mental, spiritual and emotional health, and make us more aligned with who we really are/should be.

5)     Heart Shén (Spirit) Special

In Chinese medicine the Shén is associated with our memory, consciousness, thinking, sleep and all of our emotions. It also controls the Five Spirits (see more above). As such, the Heart Shén activation is incredibly important to aid our spiritual and emotional health.

This activation targets acupuncture points that are designed specifically to balance the Heart Shén. If a patient is stressed, this activation can calm them down and help them refocus. If a patient is angry or even a bit excitable or manic this activation can reduce that fire and chill them out. If a patient is depressed, unmotivated or lacking energy, the Heart Shén Special can increase energy and inspire them to seek activities that bring them peace and harmony.

“The shen ‘gives the orders’ that precipitate each human life. But the shen also gives us our ‘heavenly mandate’ … our individual destiny” (Dechar 2006, p.174).

6)     Xīn Bāo (Heart’s Embrace) Special

In Chinese medicine the Pericardium organ is referred to as the Xīn Bāo. I think this name is a little bland and prefer to call it Heart’s Embrace or the Heart Shield. Why? Because this activation is anything but bland.

The Xīn Bāo was first mentioned in the Chinese medicine Classic, the Nèi Jīng (Yellow Emperor) over 2000 years ago: “The pericardium is like the court jester who makes the king laugh, bringing forth joy” (Ni 1995, p.34). The King/Emperor they are referring to is the Heart (see more above). From the Heart, harmony can be achieved but disharmony can also be generated across the entire body, negatively impacting on our mental health.

The Xīn Bāo activation is like you are giving the person a big, beautiful hug. One where they feel peaceful and content. But it is so much more because this activation also protects the Emperor Heart from physical and emotional trauma, because it is also the Heart Shield, or put another way, the Heart’s Bodyguard.

Traditional Chinese medicine view emotions as being one part of the whole that make us humans. They tie in with a range of other components such as organ function, sense organ relationships, mental activities, environmental influences, and more. What this basically means for you is that if something falls out of balance in one area, it has the potential to trigger a chain reaction that damages other body systems.

“Chinese medicine also believes that you can have either a disease that, over time, causes/triggers an emotion or an emotion that, over time, can cause/trigger a disease. This is important to understand because it tells you that emotions and disease are interchangeable” (Hartmann 2020, p.306).

There are literally hundreds of different activations that have been created over the past 2000 years. This workshop is designed to give you the most clinically relevant activations regarding tuning forks and sound healing. Ones that can be immediately incorporated into your tuning fork repertoire.

Love and light to you all
